I’m struggling with my Toshiba C55 laptop. Every time I try to access the boot menu, nothing happens. Even though I press the usual keys during startup, the boot menu doesn’t show. This is really annoying because I need to change my boot order urgently. I suspect it might be an issue with keyboard input or the timing of my actions. Has anyone experienced this issue with a Toshiba C55 and can explain why it happens? I need to understand what’s going wrong when I turn on my laptop.

The issue might be with a BIOS setting preventing boot menu access. Try this: shut down the laptop, unplug the power cord, and remove the battery. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to clear any residual power. Then, reinsert the battery, reconnect the power, and try accessing the boot menu again.

Fast start-up settings might be causing the issue. Disable this setting by: booting into Windows, clicking Start -> Settings -> System -> Power & Sleep -> Additional power settings. Click ‘Choose what the power buttons do’ and select ‘Change settings that are currently unavailable’. Uncheck ‘Turn on fast start-up (recommended)’. Updating the BIOS helped me resolve this problem. An outdated BIOS can create various issues, including trouble accessing the boot menu. Download the latest BIOS update from Toshiba’s website and follow the instructions carefully. Don’t forget to back up your data before updating.

I encountered a similar problem with my Toshiba C55. After trying multiple times, I figured out that I needed to press and hold the F2 key right after hitting the power button. Timing is everything. To fix the issue, I had to reset the BIOS. Here’s what I did: turned off the Toshiba C55, opened it up, and found the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Removed the CMOS battery for a few minutes, then put it back. After closing the laptop and powering it on, the boot menu was accessible again by pressing F12.
