Why does it not pick up any audio when it should be working perfectly?

I’m struggling to understand why my microphone isn’t picking up any audio. I made sure it was plugged in correctly, and I even tried it on a couple of different devices, but it just doesn’t seem to work. It’s frustrating because there are no obvious signs of physical damage, and I haven’t changed any settings recently. I’ve always relied on my microphone for video calls, recordings, and voice commands, so this issue is really disrupting my daily routine. Could there be an underlying problem with the hardware, or might it be something related to software? This ongoing issue has left me puzzled and uncertain about what to do next.

Misconfigured sound settings can often be the culprit. Within your device’s sound settings, make sure the microphone isn’t muted and that the volume is sufficiently high. For instance, in Windows, right-click the sound icon on the taskbar, select ‘Open Sound settings,’ then ‘Device properties,’ and make the necessary adjustments. Setting the microphone as the default input device can sometimes resolve the issue.

Hardware malfunction is a possibility here. Even if your microphone shows no visible signs of damage, its internal components might be failing. Diagnose the issue by testing with a different microphone or plugging your current one into another device. If the problem persists with the same microphone, it is likely the hardware at fault.
