Why is my PC battery not charging?

I have been facing an issue with my PC lately, where the battery simply won’t charge. Despite being plugged into the power supply, there’s no indication that it’s charging. The battery icon shows it’s connected, but the percentage never increases. I tried using different power outlets and even swapped out the charger, but nothing seems to work. It’s incredibly frustrating and I rely on my PC for important tasks, so running out of battery quickly is a major inconvenience. I’m not sure if it’s a hardware issue, a problem with my battery, or something else entirely. Is there something I’m missing?

Charging Port Inspection: The charging port might be the issue. Dust or debris can block the connection, or the port itself could be loose. Carefully clean the port with a soft brush or compressed air, ensuring the adapter plug fits snugly without any movement.

Update Battery Drivers: Updating battery drivers can sometimes resolve charging issues. Navigate to Device Manager, find the battery section, and right-click on both ‘Microsoft AC Adapter’ and ‘Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.’ Choose ‘Update driver’ and let your system find any updates.

Battery Health Management: On newer PCs, battery health management settings can prevent full charging to extend battery life. Check your system settings for any battery or power management options and adjust them to see if it helps. This worked for me once when my laptop refused to charge beyond a certain percentage.

Reset the Power System: Performing a power reset might address the problem. Shut down your PC, unplug it, and, if possible, remove the battery. Hold the power button for around 30 seconds to reset the system, then reintegrate the battery, plug in the charger, and turn on your PC. This step has helped me in similar situations by clearing up power management issues.

Power Adapter and Cable: In my experience, checking the power adapter and cable is essential. These components can wear down over time, leading to charging issues. Try another compatible power adapter and cable to see if that resolves the problem.
