Why is part of the Surface Book 3 touchscreen not working?
I have been experiencing an issue with my Surface Book 3 where only part of the touchscreen is not responsive. It’s strange because the rest of the screen works perfectly fine, and I haven’t dropped or damaged the device in any way. I’ve tried cleaning the screen, rebooting the device, and even doing a soft reset, but nothing seems to resolve the problem. The unresponsive area of the touchscreen makes it challenging to use certain features and apps, as I cannot reliably interact with that portion of the screen. This partial touchscreen functionality has become really frustrating, and I’m looking for some insights into why this might be happening.

I faced a similar issue with my Surface Book 3. Here’s how I fixed it:
- Clean the Screen: Sometimes, dirt or smudges interfere with touch sensitivity. Use a microfiber cloth with a bit of screen cleaner.
- Restart: Restarting your Surface can solve glitches. Hold the power button for 10 seconds and restart.
- Update Drivers: Go to Device Manager, find the touchscreen driver, and check for updates. This can improve responsiveness.
- Recalibrate the Touchscreen: In the Control Panel, navigate to Hardware and Sound > Tablet PC Settings, and select Calibrate.
- Windows Updates: Ensure your OS is updated through Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

One method that worked for me involved a complete shutdown process to refresh the hardware:
1. Long Shutdown: Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
2. Power + Volume Up: Simultaneously press and hold the power button and volume-up button for 15 seconds.
3. Restart: Release both buttons, wait 10 seconds, and restart the Surface Book 3.
This reset the hardware and fixed my touchscreen issue.

I had a similar malfunction with my Surface Book 3’s touchscreen. A system glitch caused it. Here’s how I fixed mine:
1. Device Manager: Press Windows + X, select Device Manager.
2. HID-compliant Touch Screen: Expand Human Interface Devices and locate it.
3. Reinstall Driver: Right-click and uninstall, then restart your Surface Book 3. Upon reboot, the driver reinstalls automatically, resolving the issue.
